The holidays are quickly approaching, and that means I am in charge of this year’s gluhwein. I have never had enough left over to even think about reheating it, but this year I would like to have enough so I can savor it for another night, to wind down after all the parties. Can you reheat gluhwein?
Mhm, gluhwein is a very traditional drink that is perfect for making your whole body relax. Reheating is as easy as popping a mug into the microwave for a few seconds. While typically served in a wine glass, due to their fragile nature, you should not put them in the microwave.
The Microwave
Pour your serving into a microwave safe mug or cup and place in microwave and use the “low” setting, typically it is power level 3 if you have the option. Microwave for 30 seconds, and check for desired warmth. Continue to microwave in short 15 second bursts until the desired temperature is reached.
Before anyone tells you that microwaving wine will ruin its “texture” is incorrect. Texture applies to bread and dough and otherwise solid foods. Liquid holds none of these traits, and the only thing heating impacts is its aroma. Since you have heated it once and flavored it, there is nothing to worry about.
A warm glass of gluhwein is a perfect way to unwind after a busy day chatting with relatives. With this quick fix, now you can curl up on the couch and catch up on your favorite shows that were on while you were socializing.
