Q: This weekend I was asked to host my family brunch, and everyone asked for a frittata to be made. While they all know I can make them, I typically don’t because I throw away the leftovers. After being scolded and told I can reheat them, I have to ask. How do I reheat frittatas, I need more than just word of mouth.
A: We have all been there before, a family member will tell us something that is totally off the wall and hard to believe. Yes, you can reheat your leftover frittata. While no it will not be as fluffy as when you first cooked it, it will still be delicious.
The Microwave
While reheating eggs in the microwave is highly discouraged because of possible overcooking, frittatas are a little different. Simply cut a slice and wrap it in a damp paper towel. Microwave for 20-30 seconds on power level 5 (or whatever half is on your appliance). If you would like it to be warmer, be sure to feel the piece and gauge it based on how much warmer you would like.
The Oven
When you want to reheat a lot of your leftovers, an oven is your best method. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees as you prepare your frittata. To prepare it, ensure the dish is oven safe, and wrap tightly with aluminum foil and place in the oven. It will take about 20 minutes to reheat completely.
Frittatas as great for any time of day, and reheating them is super easy! Always keep in mind that the eggs are already fully cooked, so it is important not to overcook them. Low and slow is the best way to reheat most foods.
